Atrium, concourse, entrance areas, shop windows and the grounds outside — in a shopping centre the decoration is visible on several planes at once. We design Christmas decorations for shopping centres around those places, around the scale of the interior and around the centre’s own visual identity.
An atrium is seen from several floors at once, a concourse from one level and close up, and the entrance on the car-park side is visible before you even reach the doors; the same form does not have the same effect in all of them. We therefore set the height, the shape and the density of light separately for each area of the centre. Frequently asked questions
Is the installation in a shopping centre carried out outside opening hours?
Yes. In retail buildings we usually carry out deliveries and installation work at night, after the building closes, so that they do not interfere with visitors or with the tenants’ work. Maintenance during the display period follows the same pattern.
When is the latest to order Christmas decorations for the retail season?
The first installations in shopping centres usually fall as early as October, and the peak of the work comes in December. We take standard orders up to mid-November; for a large structure in the atrium it is worth getting in touch over the summer. The final date depends on the scale of the project and on how busy production is at that moment.
Do decorations for the interior differ from those installed outdoors?
The components are no different. In the atrium we build decorations from the same elements as outdoors, so the ingress protection rating is the same under the roof as it is on the car park. What differs is the choice of form and the way it is suspended or anchored.
How far does matching the decoration to the centre’s brand go?
We choose the colours, motifs and scale to suit the centre’s visual identity, and personalising a decoration also covers adding a logo — including one made in light. Dimensions of a catalogue design are changed case by case, and that is a standard procedure rather than an exceptional service.
What does seasonal rental of decorations in a retail building involve?
The decoration stands in the building for one season and then comes back to us — its storage and upkeep stay with us. Rental is taken up most often by local authorities, but the managers of retail buildings order it too, and in the following year a different design can be rented.
When are the decorations taken down after the season?
The main removal period is January, and we take individual projects down later, in February. We agree the exact date with the centre when the order is placed, and the work is carried out after closing, just as it is for the installation.
