Where the items come from
The decorations in this group come back to us at the end of a rental. A piece spends a season in place, returns after the season and goes back into the workshop — a normal stage in the life of a structure, not the end of it.
Pre-owned illuminations are not a separate, lesser range kept to one side of our main product range. They are the same designs we design and build in-house, with a season of outdoor use already behind them.
Technical inspection and refurbishment
Before an item returns to the range, it goes through two stages. The technical inspection confirms that the decoration works as it should, and that a season outdoors has not left any damage that is not obvious at first glance.
Refurbishment covers what you can see: worn parts are replaced and everything else is brought back to a standard comparable with a new piece. Its condition is therefore established before anyone enquires about it — meeting that standard is a requirement for inclusion in this group.
Every pre-owned decoration comes with a 12-month warranty.
How to choose an item
Some items have a matching design in our catalogue. Where that is the case, we link the two in both directions: from the pre-owned item to the new version, and back again. You can then compare them side by side and decide which makes more sense for a particular site.
The remaining items are described by their own photograph and dimensions. The choice here is more concrete than in the catalogue categories: you are not choosing a design to be made, but a decoration that already exists.
What happens next
Pre-owned light decorations are chosen by customers who care about the design and a verified condition rather than the year of manufacture. Frequently asked questions
Can I reserve a specific item?
Yes. There is no single fixed reservation period — how long we hold an item depends on the point in the season: closer to the end of the year we hold it for a shorter time, while in spring there is more time to decide.
Are the mounting accessories included?
Not with every item. Mountings are normally included with three-dimensional pole decorations; for other products, what comes with the piece depends on the type of decoration and how it was originally supplied.
Can a pre-owned item be adapted to suit our needs?
For an additional fee, we can change the colours or dimensions, or add a logo, provided this is technically possible on that particular structure. We therefore confirm what can be modified on the chosen item before preparing a quote.
What happens to an item once it has been sold?
It is removed from the range — once an item is sold, we take it off the list. The list on the page therefore shows the pieces we currently have available, not an archive of everything that has passed through this category. Maintenance for a sold item works on the same terms as for a new decoration.
What does the inspection cover before an item returns to the range?
Every pre-owned decoration goes through a full inspection. We check the electrical installation, light sources, structure, cabling and the condition of coatings and paintwork, along with any other parts that need checking, repairing or refurbishing. The rule is simple: whatever is damaged gets repaired — a piece only returns to the range once it is in full working order.
Can a pre-owned decoration be rented instead of bought?
Yes. We both sell and re-rent pre-owned decorations, so either option is available in this group. A decoration taken on rental can also be bought later. The rental terms themselves are set out in a contract we agree individually with each client.
Do the decorations need to be switched on manually?
No — they do not need to be switched on manually. On request, we fit a timer switch that turns the illuminations on and off at set times. Simply mention this in your enquiry, ideally with the hours during which the decorations should be lit.
How are the decorations built to withstand outdoor conditions?
The structures are built for outdoor use and designed to last for many seasons. On large batch orders, structural calculations for an individual item are carried out by an external engineering consultancy.
What happens if a decoration stops working during the season?
Our maintenance team takes the fault on: minor repairs are carried out on site, while larger faults mean the decoration comes back to our workshop. With your report, please include a photo of the damage or the symptom, the name and code of the decoration, and a short description — whether it does not light up at all, lights up only partially, or works erratically. Give us the location as well if we are to collect the decoration from the installation site.
