Figures from Christmas tradition stand alongside fairytale characters, and sometimes an animal, provided it is clearly associated with winter. The scale stays intimate: there are almost no large forms here. For a first proposal we only need the number of figures and whether they are to form a single themed display.

Where these figures come from
This range draws on three sources: Christmas tradition — Santas, snowmen, angels and elves; fairy tales; and the animal world. The animal theme is the most visible of the three, as bears, penguins, a reindeer and a hare also appear in Animals — here as seasonal characters, there simply as species. Santa Claus turns up again in Sleighs and teams, this time as a passenger.
Most figures stay under three metres
Two-thirds of the designs stand under three metres, and almost nothing in this design range goes above four. A figure of this size does not tower over passers-by; it stands at their scale. Many designs are not a figure on its own but a figure with an object — Santa Claus at a piano, a bear in a teacup or a car, guards beside a throne — a small themed display that needs no further figures added to it.
